Nice. Good to know. Thanks for the link.

For those of us who are a little uneducated about firmware, can someone either post a link or a reply to let me know what benefits I can expect from the Froyo update?

apps2sd without the need for root, about double the speed of 2.1, and wireless tethering are the key ones. also advanced search in market which will give you suggestions if it can't find what you searched for, i.e. you type twetter (misspelled twitter)...instead of saying no app found it will say did you mean twitter, and display all apps related to twitter.

Don't hold your breath !!  I contacted HTC in an attempt to get an expected Froyo OS update date.   This was the response:

"I can certainly understand how you would like to update your phone to Froyo. At the present time we do not have any information concerning the potential update. I would recommend staying tuned to http://www.htc.com/us for more information concerning updates in the future."

And will anything like apps media or contacts be affected with the update?

I've ben doing some research on a froyo date and possibly manually updating then I came across the quote "Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck." - The Dalai Lama. I read from an unofficial source that "its baking and we should expect it around december 15th. If I don't get it by 2011 then I'm hacking.

Nope. I'll certainly let everyone know when I do.  I have a feeling 2.2 will cause more problems than anything.

I have good news and bad news.

Good news is:
The update for the myTouch 3G 3.5mm Jack and Fender LE are now starting at January 12 and expected to for everyone to get the update at February 1.  The original myTouch 3G already had their update which naturally means that the myTouch 3G Slide is getting the update after and could be predicted it could occur during March if the pattern continues.

Now for the bad news.  The update for the myTouch 3G Slide is being delayed due to two issues.   Wi-Fi calling doesn’t work 100% of the time and the OTA update is right now being directed to the wrong partition, which doesn’t have enough memory to process the update.
