to lovemytouch, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST! it was the most accurate instructions I have found in days...
I want to share my issue in case someone else has the same...My phone was turning ON and OFF on it's own, even after I remove the battery for several minutes as soon as I put it back it would do the same, so I wasn't able to turn the phone completely off
What I did:
1- let the phone go thru the restart process, it might take up to 20 minutes, it looks like it frozed on one screen but you have to leave it alone..then it will go to the main "locked" screen.
2- I get the message that the android app wasn't responding so I open and use the keyboard to hit ENTER (to quit) or click on home or menu until you get the message to quit the "system not responding" warning that's how to bypass the scroll down and unlock when the touchscreen is not working.
3- it brought me to the main screen. don't waist time using "search" to get to the settings -will not work-.
NOW... you are able to shut the phone off and use the home+volume keys to reset it.
remember not to let go the buttons until you see the 3 droid green men.
Then, proceed with the instructions posted here
T-mobile Tech support (phone or store) SUCKS!
here is why:
last Friday my phone's screen froze and started to shut on and off on it's own. so saturday I spent hours calling them the automated system also sucks..after being with T-mobile tech support on the phone for 45 minutes withOUT success..they instructed me to bring my phone to the store and the technicians where going to take care of it. not to my surprise...they couldn't do anything...they called the same number I did and put me back on the phone so I have to explain myself for the fiftieth time. to only have them shipping me a new phone, meanwhile I explained everyone I can not send my phone as it is..I use my phone for work and store a lot of info (including C.Card numbers) for my boss.. so before I put in the box I decide to do some research and found your site!
